Can I upgrade the Deployment Target iOS app to a newer OS now and then downgrade it to an earlier version of iOS?

My app is currently created and works for iOS 5.1 using Xcode 5.1.1. For its first release, I would like to send it only for iOS 7. Later, in future releases, I would like to restore it Deployment Targetto iOS 6 or 5.
