I am creating a small application that I would like to automatically update when new data arrives.
From what I read in the Android documentation, I thought that since I am using the new methods that ContentObserver will be created for the background and I just get automatic loader calls.
If you need more information, I would be happy to add it or download the whole project somewhere.
Also, I am targeting KitKat (sdk version 19).
Application Overview
- We have ListActivity using the built-in ListView.
- ListActivity retrieves data using Loader and SimpleCursorAdapter.
- The loader retrieves its data by requesting a ContentProvider.
- ContentProvider is supported by the SQLite database.
In addition, in the action bar, I added two actions: one to add an item and one to delete all items.
When I add items, the ListView does not update with new entries, and I can also see that a new request was not launched on the ContentProvider. If I close the application and restart it, these entries will now be visible in the ListView.
