Is the App_Browsers folder still required in ASP.NET 4?

Question

Is the App_Browsers folder still necessary in ASP.NET 4 sites / applications?

I have had this on my site for many years, containing only the w3cvalidator.browser file to make the site verified in the W3C validator.

Now that Microsoft is very pro-standard, is that really superfluous? I searched today, but I can only find pages that have been years.

The folder App_Browsersis still in use. According to MSDN :

( .browser), ASP.NET .
