Turn off spell checking in Xcode Commit comments

Does anyone know how to turn off spell checking in the comment area with Xcode comments? It is very unpleasant to always correct the corrector when entering into my notes. For example, whenever I enter an iVar name or a method name, the spell checker will decide that I spelled it incorrectly and make some ridiculous guesses about what it should be.

Right-click in the comments area. There are spelling and grammar menus. You can uncheck the "Correct Spelling Automatically" box, but I cannot figure out how to make the settings saved. It returns to default by the next commit. (Using Xcode 5.1.1.)

I solved this by turning the spell globally for my Mac.

System Settings → Keyboard → Text

If this is an acceptable solution, it can help anyone who reads it.
