Integrate Netty Server with Akka?

I see that Netty is the foundation for building asynchronous network software. I am wondering if there is a way to integrate the server side with Akka in such a way that at any time when the request is received from the Netty client, the Akka "actor" thread on the server picks it up and responds to it asynchronously. Is there any value for this type of integration (scaling, fault tolerance, etc.) on the server, or is the asynchronous nature of Netty already providing everything that the server needs (in terms of threads)?

Yes, we do it in several places in Akka, for example. in Test Conductor for our tests with multiple JVMs. There is also the Akka IO package , which contains our own implementation to provide TCP and UDP connectivity to participants.
