Why use uWSGI and the supervisor with the flash application, and not just the supervisor?

Question

I usually run my flash drive apps using uWSGI and nginx in front of it.

But I thought the same thing could only be done with a supervisor and nginx, so I searched googled and found a lot of posts on how to configure and the benefits of the uWSGI-supervisor-nginx stack. I decided to turn to SO, risking getting online for such a question.

What are the benefits of running a Flask application for uWSGI, supervisor and nginx? Why, apparently, no one is running Flask applications with just the supervisor?
