Android AVD emulator in Eclipse shows a black screen and "android"

Just finished coding the application, and now I want to test it.

When I launch the AVD emulator from eclipse, it appears with a black screen that says “android” in blue. I set up AVD correctly and made sure that everything is "according to the book." All I did was a .xml file fragment and MainActivity.java. I did not even touch Activity_main.xml.

Could this happen because I have nothing in the activity_main.xml file?

First I tried to run AVD, then the program and vice versa. I tried to find the answer on Google, but I can not find anything about my question. Any help is appreciated.

Thank!

Actually waiting for the OS to load on the emulator. This usually takes a few minutes, depending on the configuration of your system.

Wait a few minutes, and you can see the regular Android OS loaded on the emulator.

The usual console output when starting the application on a new emulator looks something like this:

[2013-06-17 16:06:52 - FirstRun] Waiting for HOME ('android.process.acore') to be launched...
