Install Windows exe icon from Linux (without Wine?)

I am trying to install a Windows executable icon with a Bash script on Linux, but I cannot find anything relevant.

I found this tool www.nongnu.org/icoutils , but it seems to me that you can extract the .ico file from the executable file (then convert it to png) or do the opposite: it accepts png and it creates .ico, but it doesn’t can write a new ico to an executable file. Am I right or wrong? What should I do?

By the way, I found this thread and this one , but they do not fully answer the question ...

Thank!
