I cannot create a new portable class library project that is designed for either the Xamarin.Android framework or the Xamarin.iOS framework. When I do this, an error message appears stating that there are no functionalities available that are portable between the selected frames, regardless of the other frameworks that I have chosen (for example, Windows 7.5 or higher, for example, Stuart Lodge selects in its videos "MvvmCross Video Days").
Ultimately, I would like to use MvvmCross with it, and it seems that some updates of either Visual Studio or the Xamarin framework violated my existing setup - it was used to work with Mono mods, but then something changed and it is bigger does not work. I created a new virtual machine for my installation to make sure it is clean (my host system also has 2010, and I was worried that something had broken between the two versions).
(If that helps)
In a virtual machine, I run:
-Visual Studio 2012 Ultimate Update 4 (v4.50709)
-Projector linker 2012 (v1.5); this has been suggested in some Xamarin docs about PCL
-Nuget v2.8.50313.31
-Xamarin.Android v4.12.2001
-Xamarin.iOS v1.10.47
