The Google Closure compiler combines reusable private property - a flaw or am I missing something?

I found a base64 javascript encoder / decoder some time ago in StackOverflow. It looks something like this:

Should it be the same right? And I have a bonus for rejecting the methods and properties of "private".

Then I go through the Google Closure Compiler “simple optimization” (I actually used this compressor , but the result is the same). To my surprise, it compiles to something like this (a little embellishment to make it more readable):
