PgAdmin III not responding when trying to restore a database

I am trying to restore a database (via a backup file), I am on PgAdmin III (Postgresql 9.1). After selecting the backup file, a window will appear indicating that pg_restore.exe is running, and PgAdmin is not responding, several hours have passed (this is not a problem of lack of RAM)

Perhaps this is due to the size of the backup file (500 MB), but a few days ago I already restored the database with a backup file of 300 MB, and it was done smoothly. By the way, the backup file format (created via pg_dump) is the "tar" format.

Please let me know if anything comes to mind or you need more information. I appreciate any help or pointers anyone has. Thank you in advance.

I have the same problem and I decided to look at this tutorial on the website

The file was created in my 78 MB backup, I generated it again using

  • Format: Custom
  • Ratio:
  • Joining: UTF8
  • RoleName: Postgres

I try to recover again and then it works fine.

In OS X, I had similar problems. After selecting the .backup file and pressing restore in pgAdmin, I got a spinning beach ball. Everything, however, worked in the background, the user interface just hung.

, , - OS X Windows. "", postgres, , "Bytes Read" . ~ 15G, "Bytes Read" . 15G, , pgAdmin .

(BTW, 15G 1,5 Mac i7 8G )
