I had the same problem when I precompiled my templates with a specific version and used them with a different version of the runtime.

In my case, gulp -handlebars used the edge version, and I had to install the version I needed and pass it to the gulp -handlebars configuration.

If you follow the tutorial using the old runbars version. Replace handlebars.runtime.js with the latest version from the helm site. I installed the steering wheels through npm, and as soon as I used the updated code, it worked perfectly.
