How to convert the PGP (binary) .key file to an ASCII-armored file?

Is there a way to convert a (binary) file .keyto an ASCII-armored .ascfile?

There is a previous post that seems to suggest that the file extension does not matter, the contents of the file are the same: What is the difference between b / w.pkr and .key file in relation to PGP?

You can use GnuPG for this. From man gpg:

   --enarmor
   --dearmor
Pack or unpack an arbitrary input into/from an OpenPGP ASCII armor.
This is a GnuPG extension to OpenPGP and in general not very useful.

--enarmorreads from stdin and displays the armored version on stdout, --dearmorworks the other way around. For ASCII backup of a binary key, use gpg --enarmor <file.key >file.asc.

, OpenPGP . ASCII- ASCII.
