How to combine several matplotlib shapes into one digit?

Question

I have several matplotlib Figure objects that I want to combine with one large figure by placing them next to another.

• How to get them on one figure?
• How to make them the same height?

Please note that I cannot change the way I create individual shapes. I can just use the resulting Figure objects.
