Consequences for the Google Tag Manager code snippet at the bottom of HTML before closing the </body> tag?

Are there any problems with the Google Tag Manager snippet at the bottom of the HTML page just before the closing tag?

I see that the development guide says to put it on the top right after the tag opens, but there shouldn't be any problems below, right?

I installed it there, and one problem is that checking your site in web master tools via GTM may not work.

It's easy to use an old-style meta tag in its place.
