Linux system waits 90 seconds after calling "poweroff" before shutting down in VMware

I run Arch Linux (installed from archlinux-2014.01.05-dual.iso) on VMware Player and installed vmtoolsd(which belongs open-vm-tools).

Now my problem is that whenever I do poweroffor reboot, the system just leaves me with a black screen in which only the cursor blinks in the upper left corner. If I do nothing, the system will shut down or reboot in one or two minutes.

I searched google for this problem. Some people assume that I am changing /usr/lib/systemd/system/vmtoolsd.serviceand adding one line for KillSignal=SIGKILLor TimeoutStopSec=2. However, none of these works. In fact, when I do systemctl stop vmtoolsd, it seems to stop quickly.

I assume that perhaps some other service is in the same state as in the messages that I see. Is there a workaround for this so that I can shut down my virtual machine immediately and gracefully, or that I can find out what happens during the poweroffrun so that I can determine if any service is blocked?

Update March 4, 2014: Now the problem is getting weird. I reinstalled Arch Linux, but the problem just continues. Now I assume that this may not be a problem vmtoolsdor any service that I installed, but VMware tools or systems. (But I'm sure Ubuntu does not have this problem in VMware.) Now I'm trying to find out what really caused the problem.
