AsteriskNOW vs. FreePBX. What is the easiest way to configure?

I am developing an asterisk and graphical interface.

There are several types of Asterisk GUIs.

FreePBX, AsteriskNOW, Elastix, Trixbox ...

Finally, I chose two types.

  • FreePBX and AsteriskNOW.
  • FreePBX is based on php, AsteriskNOW is based on java.

Almost people used FreePBX.

But I do not know this reason.

I installed AsteriskNOWand an asterisk from the command line ( apt-get install asterisk) to get the best and easiest startup time. All other versions are a pain in $$. I would go for it apt-get install asterisk, as this way will take care of the updates.

You can try XiVO. It is based on Asterisk and is licensed under the GPLv3
