Ubuntu on mac-mini: shell script to fix my screen resolution?

I have Ubuntu installed on two machines: a laptop and a Mac Mini. While everything is okay on the laptop screen, on the Mac Mini there are only two options for selecting permissions, and none of them works well. Currently it shows an option: 1024x768 or 800x600.

This is a Philips 24 "LED monitor (61 cm) model 244EL2. I never had the same problem when running Ubuntu on a PC. Is this a driver issue related to the Apple Mac Mini?

I wonder if any bash script could commit this thing? Or if someone can offer a recipe for it?
