How to install WPF Performance Suite on Windows 8.1?

This MSDN article clearly describes how to install the WPF Performance Suite, but with a HUGE caveat for Windows 8.1 users.

process:

  • After installing the Windows SDK, on ​​the Start menu, select All Programs, Microsoft Windows SDK v7.1, and Tools.
  • In the Tools section, click Install Windows Performance Toolkit. The installation wizard appears.

So here are some of my questions:

  • Firstly, there is a Windows 8.1 SDK . This one does not contain the WPF feature set?
  • Secondly, they removed the old Start menu, and I don’t see the above installation link in Windows 8.1 ... so if I have SDK 7.1, where is the installed installer located?
  • Thirdly, does WPF Performance Suite with 7.1 even work with / in Windows 8.1 ...?

It is so annoying and driving me crazy.

I managed to get everything working under Windows 10a .NET 4.5 WPF app.

I guess this also applies to Windows 8.1. If this is not the case, you always have a backup option for upgrading to Windows 10.
