Failed to connect to Android version 2.3.6 on Ubuntu 12.04

I cannot connect an Android device version 2.3.6 to Ubuntu 12.04. I want to connect this device for development and debugging using Android Eclipse. Is there a problem with the driver? In addition to this device version 2.3.6, I can access all other devices with different versions. For other versions there is no problem.

Is Gingerbread supported on Linux / Ubuntu?

Have you configured your device correctly? Goto Settings-> Applications-> Development-> and make sure USB debugging is enabled (verified). Then in Eclipse click on DDMS (Windows-> Open Perspective-> Other-> DDMS. Your device will be listed there. If you do not try to restart eclipse.

Here are a few things you can try on the command line :

  • lsusb
    • Does this show your device? If not, something is wrong with the driver - or your device is not connected (broken cable?).
  • adb devices
    • Does this show your device as attached? If not, a problem may arise:
      • the phone is not configured for debugging mode (described above, you must first enable the developer on the device).
      • /etc/udev/rules.d/51-android.rules, linux/osx, , ...
