OCR and Neuron Network?

Question

I am trying to encode OCR for store tickets (in Java), I have good results with an image dictionary shift, but not for distorted texts or poor scans. I heard that neural networks are perfect for this.

Question: What type of neural network do you recommend for detecting a store symbol?

Neural networks will not magically solve the problem for you. They will have problems that your current approach is facing. Most likely, you will have to detect a skew and fix it before sending it to the classifier.
