Custom domain setup with Amazon S3

I bought a domain name through iwantmyname.comand stuck in setting up a static web hosting though S3, following this guide: http://docs.aws.amazon.com/AmazonS3/latest/dev/website-hosting-custom-domain-walkthrough.html I want to configure everything so that when someone walks in mydomain.com, they see my index.html file hosted on S3, and the URL should not change to anything else, sort of mydomain.com.s3-website-us-west-2.amazonaws.com. I just want it to be. mydomain.com I'm stuck with everything that was in step 3.2, where I need to configure the Route 53 stuff. Does anyone have a better step-by-step guide for this? The Amazon didn't work very well, perhaps in order to encourage people to buy their support.

I figured it out myself. Here's what you need to do:

  • buy your domain, example.com
  • go to your Amazon S3 console and create a bucket named example.com
  • add your index.htmlfile to it and grant read permissions
  • enable static website hosting for the bucket using example.comin the box
  • go to the routing part of the R5 console and add a set of records Type A(IPV4)
  • Select "Yes for an alias" and select the endpoint from the drop-down list, it will be something like

    example.com..s3-site-us-west 2.amazonaws.com

  • Click Create

  • Hosted Zones example.com, 4 , :

    ns-XXXX.awsdns-54.org ns-XXX.awsdns-15.com ns-XXXX.awsdns-45.co.uk ns-XXX.awsdns-27.net

  • -

  • Amazon, , iwantmyname.com
  • , 8
  • ! , , . 15 . ping- nslookup :

    ping example.com nslookup example.com

pinging nslookup S3, Amazon
