PDF metadata

I want to be able to store some data related to the plugin in PDF format so that I can read it back when this PDF file is loaded, without this metadata visible to the user.

How can I put this metadata in a PDF file?

PDF supports XMP metadata. You should add your plugin information as a payload in the XMP part.
