Where to look for a GCC implementation for an implementation-defined implementation?

Since the C ++ standard is very vague for many things, I want to look at specific implementations from different compilers. At the moment, I want to know how GCC allocates and aligns bit fields.

In the case of the MS Visual C ++ compiler, this is very simple: in the user manual about bit fields, there is a nice page that explains all open questions about distribution / alignment, and there are even numbers and examples.

I just need the same information for GCC, but it seems to be more complex. The GCC manual has a page that says: "Defined by ABI." Then we have information on ABI policies and recommendations , which contains a link to a document called Itanium C ++ ABI on Github. Now in this document we can find the following: "the bit field is allocated in accordance with the requirements of C psABI." And that was what I was stuck with. I cannot find useful sites when searching for C psABI.

Can someone point me to a site that describes the implementation of GCC crypto fields? It can't be that hard, can it? Why is GCC documentation so often much more complicated than Microsoft? Am I using the wrong resources?
