Is it possible to connect two or more WiFi Direct groups?

I am currently experimenting with WiFi-Direct (WiFiP2p) for a project I am working on, and wanted to know if it is possible to create a bridge between groups by combining them together?

Based on the white document released by the WiFi alliance, this should be possible (although "the P2P specification does not describe the mechanism for this feature - the implementation is vendor specific"). I browsed the internet and found the answers ( this , this , etc.), but I feel that no one is particularly convincing. Looking at the Andoid API didn't help either.

The scenario I am trying to create is that a client from one group connects to another group. Given 4 devices (A, B, C, D), where A and B are in the group, where A is the owner of the group, and C and D are in the group managed by D:

  • C connects to A. Thus, 2 groups are connected to C acting as a bridge.

Is it possible?
