What is the difference between a physical device driver and a logical device driver?

I would like to know the difference between a physical device driver (PDD) and a logical device driver (LDD)?

In addition to this difference, the logical device driver (LDD) is written by the operating system provider, and the physical device driver (PDD) is implemented by the device supplier.

Is there any difference? Do we both need to communicate with the equipment? What is their individual significance?

Thanks in advance.
