Cloudflare: how to set up (DNS and name servers)

At first, I thought this question was better for Server Fault, but after reading the frequently asked questions, I think differently.

So, I set up Cloudflare for my domain (I just want to use it as a free CDN), but the Cloudflare documentation is hardly sufficient for a beginner as himself. The lack of clarity in my case is even worse because my domain and my web space are hosted by different companies.

When you host your domain on the Cloudflare website, it checks the website and informs you of the name server changes on its two servers. Problem 1:

  • Should I change the name servers of my domain host or the name servers of my web space? (The latter seemed impossible, so I believe the answer will be the first).

After that, Cloudflare provides a list of different domains / subdomains of your site and the DNS server and / or IP addresses associated with it. But:

  • When I go to the control panel of my domain host, most of these subdomains also exist, but with different IP addresses. Shouldn't they be the same? Should I change the host IPs to those that Cloudflare represents?
  • Should I add all the subdomains that I can find on my Cloudflare subdomain node?
  • Is it possible that I do not need to change any settings on my web space?
