How to protect the source code of a chrome-packaged application?

If the chrome application can work offline, it means that the source code is loading somewhere.

My question is how to protect him?

The only thing that comes to my mind is the abbreviation of javascript code. Is there anything else?

Javascript is loaded onto the client machine (and can be manipulated there) for this reason it can never be safe or secret. As you say, the best you can hope for is obfuscation.
