.Mpl extension in URL: Perl related technology?

I have seen a company using such URLs http://www.foob.ar/cgi-perl/bar.mpl. They seem to be using Perl in the background, but I would like to know what technology (infrastructure, modules, etc.) is it supposed to use with the extension .mpl?

I believe that this will be the Mason template engine , but cannot find confirmation.

It looks like a top-level module MASON / script.

See this: http://metacpan.org/pod/HTML::Mason::Admin

and this: http://www.masonhq.com/htmlmason/wiki/FAQ:ServerConfiguration

, . , (.m,.mc,.mhtml,.mcomp,...) .

Mason , .html,.txt,.pl .mhtml,.mtxt, .mpl (-) . http://www.masonhq.com/docs/manual/Admin.html#controlling_access_via_filename_#controlling_access_via_filename_ .
