Equidistant scaling of the X, Y, and Z axes in Matplotlib?

How can I get equidistant scaling for the X, Y and Z axis in Matplolib 3D graphics?

I already tried this:

ax = fig.add_subplot(111, projection='3d', aspect='equal')

But this only leads to equidistant scaling of the X and Y axes. How can I apply this to all three axes?

Thanks!

There is a very flexible example of arbitrary scales and a very short example with equidistant scales ; they do not work for you?
