The fact is that:

Chrome will write:

ERR_EMPTY_RESPONSE

and

When you try to reach the local host on port 80 with a wave, you are actually trying to reach the host machine (not a guest working in virtualbox / vagrant). Therefore, if the host does not start the web server (on port 80), you usually get a message couldn't connect to host.
