Adding bookmarks via javaScript for IE11

I was looking to find out if there is a way to add bookmarks via javaScript in Internet Explorer 11. One of my friends said he did it, but doesn’t remember how.

window.external.AddFavorite

This does not work for Internet Explorer 11. Any help on how to do this, if possible, will be truly wonderful.
