Adjust the brightness of the external Mac display programmatically

Does anyone know how to change the brightness of an external display connected to mac via Objective-C? (Like an Apple Thunderbolt display or a Cinema LED display?) I saw answers for adjusting the brightness of the main screen, but not on the secondary screen.
