I'm new to Mercurial, and I'm a little confused about how to write changes like git. I delved into SO and found some use for the attic extension , while others use the shelve extension . Is there any reason why I should use one and not the other? Are they complementary ?.
Thanks...
The attic has not been updated since 2011, while the Shelve is built-in. I also looked at the same thing, and decided to avoid the attic due to lack of maintenance.
From the attic wiki:
Shelve ... is almost a complete subset of the attic. In fact, the attic hg shelve --interactive calls 3 methods that are directly pulled from the source code for the hgshelve extension
Attic or silk is basically a matter of habits and personal tastes.
You need to learn the MQ Extension : "Git stash on steriods"
I am doing a great job with the attic and I am pleased with that. (We just upgraded the hg version of version 2.2.2 to 3.7.3. I don't know how well the attic works in a later version. Keep in mind the response.)
In the search, now I see that there is a slightly newer forked version at https://bitbucket.org/sinbad/hgattic
