Add an existing project to multiple visual studio 2012 solutions

I have one solution (s) that has several projects (1,2,3)

I want to take one of the projects (say 2) and make it part of another solution (b)

so solution (a) consists of projects {1,2,3} and solution (b) consists of projects {2,4,5,6}

Is this possible in VS2012?

Sure. You add project (2) to solution (b) via Add → Existing project. But be careful, changes in one project decision also affect your other decision.

If you included a project in a solution that has not yet used Nuget and a project that you have included, you need to add the .nuget folder or you will receive an error message:

.nuget nuget.targets not found

in project. The easiest way to add a folder:

  • Install Nuget.
  • Right-click on the solution and select "Enable NuGet Package Recovery."
  • Click OK in the warning.
  • Close and reopen the solution.
