Learning 4GL Progress

I have an interview on Monday (wahey!) For the role of a trainee programmer. When describing the work, knowledge of "Progress 4GL" is desirable, but not necessary. To maximize my chances of getting a job, I made a commitment to learn some of the basics of Progress 4GL.

However, in spite of multiholding, I did not find anything but expensive books and very few / no textbooks on this topic. I also searched for OpenEdge ABL, as my research so far shows that this is a new name for the language.

My question is:

Is there a free online tutorial that talks about the very basics of Progress 4GL / OpenEdge ABL, other than the documentation available on the progress website?

You can request a test download from Progress Software . Also the main sources of information would be

1) The community of developers . See, In particular, PSDN → Documents, where you can download full documentation in PDF format or read on the Internet.

2) Software Software Knowledge Base

I think that if you read some of the documentation from PSDN starting with ABL Essentials , you can say that you at least know what it exists and what it basically looks like, even if you are not familiar with working with it.

(By the way, Progress changed the name of the language to Progress ABL a couple of years ago).

Good luck
