Android Capture All Audio Going to Speakers

Is there a way in Android to capture all the sound going to the speakers (or headphones) and save it, for example, to a file? It would be nice for the application I am creating if I could skip all the sounds elsewhere. I saw this one , but I would not want users to have a custom ROM to use this feature. Root access will not be a problem. Is it possible? If so, how?

You cannot do this without providing a custom operating system. Root access did not help, since a suitable call to the AudioFlinger API does not exist.
