What is the closest Node.js equivalent to Rakefiles?

Question

I would like to switch from Makefiles to something more Node-idiomatic, but npm run-scripts cannot depend on each other, and grunt makes it incredibly difficult to create shell tasks.

Is there any other Node tool to easily write dependent shell tasks?
