No CSS color preview icon in ditch in .css file in pycharm

I have been using pycharm as my IDE for about 1 year, and in setting my pycharm -> Editor -> Appearance, the "show CSS color preview icon in gutter" is checked.

But the preview icon only appears in the block in .html. And when I moved the styles to a separate .css file, the preview icon just doesn't appear.

How can I show the color preview icon in a .css file in pycharm?

Unable to play:

CSS

Make sure .css mapped to the correct file type in Settings | File Types .

Also try File | Invalidate Caches | Invalidate and Restart .

If the above does not help, keep in touch with the sample project for playback, your settings are exported using File | Export Settings and idea.log .

UPDATE : colors in the gutter may not be displayed if your Highlighting Level set below Inspection :

I had the same problem (with PhpStorm) and the solution was to choose any other scheme besides Dracula.

Update. As an alternative, I had to reduce the font size of the editor to display colors. See this error .

Colors in the gutter may also not be displayed if Editor => General => Change font size (Zoom) with Ctrl + Mouse Wheel . Just turn off or zoom out. If nothing happened, open the file again.
