Does php-excel-reader support xlsx support

I am using php-excel-reader , but got an error while reading the .xlsx file. Thus, it supports xlsx format. Or what is another solution.

My requirement is just to read the file (xls, xlsx and ods) and do it on the html page.

PHPExcel seems too big because there is no need to edit the excel file.

Judging by this question , it looks like it is not working. They reference PHPExcel if you want to use xlsl files. At first glance, this still seems to be the best alternative.

As far as I know, php-excel-reader does not support xlsx. PHPExcel is the way to go. It is believed that it is better to store everything that is in your xslx files, less proprietary. Having taken a long shot, I would suggest that your xslx does not contain the calculations that belong to the xlsx files, but rather the table data that is better stored in some database (txt, csv, sqlite, database server).
