Add custom icon to awesome font

Question

I tried adding a custom icon by converting it to .svg format. I added a converted .svg icon by importing it into http://icomoon.io/app/ and loading it as .png. It was not an original image. It was a simple black box. Am I missing something here?

I am doing it now. Check out this tutorial! He uses a utility called "Custom Font", which you may not need for sounds, but maybe the tutorial will help you get back on track.
