Google Chrome 28 does not play mp4 videos

I have a problem at the moment when I canโ€™t get the .mp4 video to play in Google Chrome 28, this only happens on Windows 7 machines, but not at all.

Be that as it may, I was able to reproduce the problem on three out of five Windows machines.

Even if I enter the direct URL into the .mp4 file in the address bar, Chrome will still not play it.

Can anyone repeat this problem? I used several different .mp4 files for testing, but here is one of them: http://www.w3.org/2010/05/video/mediaevents.html

I would appreciate any help.

Note. Go to Chrome Advances settings and turn off "Use hardware acceleration when available." Chrome can play videos, but this option is enabled by default, so itโ€™s not an ideal solution.

Thank you very much.

UPDATE: updated video driver updates, but then again ... not an ideal solution ...

we also had this problem ... Both Webm and theora / ogg worked fine in chrome, and mp4 video worked fine on IE9 and firefox. Only chrome fails.

We can also fix this by updating the video drivers (Intel HD on DELL PCs), so it looks like a problem in the H.264 acceleration used in Chrome and older Intel drivers.
