Xampp Apache service not starting

I installed xampp 3.2.1 in my Windows xp.i virtual machine, I need mysql and apache services for my mysql service for my project, but it is easy to start apache, even if it starts in a few seconds, it shuts down immediately.

  • verified that no other service or application, such as skype or any other, works on port 80 using the xampp Netstat control panel

  1. change the port configurations in httpd.conf and httpd-ssl.conf, trying different ports like 1337 and 7331, 3333 and 4444, 81 and 444 and many others, but no luck.

  2. I tried disabling IIS, as recommended on the forums, but again no luck.

  3. The web client in services was stopped, but no solution recommended checking the path to mysql and apache services on the services tab, but there are no mysql and apache services on the services tab.

I am missing any configuration or is this a problem with the virtual machine.

Any help is appreciated.

Similarly, the skype application running on your computer is a factor that can disable xampp. So make sure you log out of skype and run xampp / wamp again.

I just solved the same problem. In my case, it was about configuring virtual hosts (httpd-vhosts.conf). There was probably some kind of typo or the wrong command. I deleted all my added virtual hosts, restarted apache in xampp (to make sure it was running), and then added the virtual hosts again and restarted xampp again. The best, Eugene

PS. Create a copy of the httpd-vhosts.conf file for recovery.
