How to enable middle mouse button for Pharo on Ubuntu?

I am new to Pharo. I am running Ubuntu Raring Ringtail (13.04) and using the PPA recommended on the Pharo website, along with the Pharo 30218 image and hoping to enable the medium-term click feature. (I have a Logitech trackball, and several applications are already knowledgeable enough to use the middle wheel scrolling ability. So I think I need to do something specific for Pharo.)

I am on a mac, so my answer may not be as useful to you. But the middle mouse button does not bring any menu to Pharo, and by default the mouse wheel should work. Please note that Pharo 3.0 is in a difficult development, so for starters I used Pharo 2.0.

Have you tried using the Squeak image with your virtual machine? There, the middle / right mouse buttons are displayed in the halo / context menu. If he works in Squeak, then the problem is with the Pharo image. If this does not work in Squeak, the problem is with the VM.

You can get the current version of Squeak: http://ftp.squeak.org/4.4/Squeak4.4-12327.zip plus http://ftp.squeak.org/4.4/SqueakV41.sources.zip

For me, the key combination (modifier) that I had to use to get the halo: alt+shift , and then press the left mouse button .
