Download and save google street panoramas based on lat / long

Question

I have a dataset (9000 records) for which I have long / lat. I would like to give each place a photograph. To do this, it would be neat to use google street photos. I do not want to rely on the service; rather, I would rather keep the images on my end.

Is there a way to get my server to pull images from google api maps if I provide long / lat? If someone can point me in the right direction, that will certainly help.

I can implement this via php or ruby ​​/ rails.

My other concern is the validity of this, but I suppose this may not be the right place to ask this question.

The Google Street View Google API may be of interest. You can just capture an image from them like this , and then save it like any other file. I do not know what the consequences for licensing may have.
