The purpose of the "generated" Glassfish catalog

I need to better understand what is included in the "generated" directory inside the Glassfish domain folder. I see that deployed applications store some resource files there (xmls, properties, manifests ...), but they don’t really understand why. This time Google was not very useful. Can someone point me to the relevant documentation? Thank you

Edit: I need to know this data because I want / must delete this folder when the server restarts.

After several experiments, I found that I can delete all of the following directories inside the GF domain and create them when GF starts:

  • applications
  • autodeploy
  • generated
  • magazines
  • OSGi cache

The first 2, of course, if you redistribute your applications. I usually delete them during development after GF crashes.

To execute sebi's response, make sure your server is stopped while deleting these directories. Doing this when it starts can damage the domain you are working with.
