Optimization of large SQL migrations

Is there a tool that detects “reverse” operations (for example, adds a column / table at the beginning, deletes it later) in a large (1800 statement) migration script?

There is a tool that is designed to version control your database, to automate both structural changes and data transfer as part of the process of updating your application. I have used this tool successfully and with great effect for a number of years. I can not recommend it highly enough.
