What are the pros and cons of gwt? And why should I choose it for use?

I am still new to GWT. I want to know the preferred features of GWT rather than other frameworks.
And are there any advantages or disadvantages when using GWT?

Yes, I know that the links above have a lot of links. I understand that there have never been any completed structures. I have to choose the framework for my project. Therefore, please take this question as a discussion. But I'm sure this is not an opnion base issue.
There are many experienced users with GWT on SO . I want to get useful discussions, suggestions or information from them.

  • If you are familiar with java. Learning curve will not be
  • The code can be reused + all means are delivered together with java
  • When the application grows larger, the code will easily support
  • Browser compatible

disadvantages

  • It takes a lot of memory to run in dev mode.
  • High compilation time
  • Each server call will be ajax
  • You will lose control of your javascript
