Proper use of the <section> tag in html 5
I embed html5 in my blog template, and I'm a little confused about how to designate the different "sections" on the first page. This is a magazine topic, so all topics are connected freely. For the sake of argument, let's say this is the movie’s site, and I have news sections, trailer sections and interviews. It would be appropriate in my pointer:
<section> <h1>Trailers</h1> <ul> <li><a href="article">article</a></li> <li><a href="article">article</a></li> <li><a href="article">article</a></li> <li><a href="article">article</a></li> </ul> </section> This is apparently not intended to be used; confer , especially the second Note:
A section element is not a common container element. When an element is needed only for styling or for the convenience of writing scripts, authors are encouraged to use the div element. The general rule is that a section element is only suitable if the contents of the element are explicitly specified in the document outline.
In essence, section intended as part of the structure of a document.
According to the specification of the section :
A general rule is that a section element is only suitable if the contents of the element are explicitly specified in the document outline.
This means that if you just want to execute some scripts on the content or apply a style, you must use a div . And if you think the contents of section should be syndicated , then you better use the article tag.
