Wrapping sections inside a curly tag?

I am wondering if it is right to place wrapping divs for each of several fingers inside the image tag (as in the example below)?

Or is there a more suitable / simpler way to combine html5 semantics and good img thumb style elements?

Suggest using nested shapes / figcaptions
